In a game that showcased the Wings comeback, it wasn't enough as the Wings fell to the Avalanche 5-4. Here is the recap:
At 5:58 of the first period, The Avalanche struck first. A goal from Paul Stastny gave the Wings the early lead. The Wings found a way, as always to tie up the game, with Jan Mursak scoring his 1st goal of the season at 6:52. Matt Duchene, the top pick for the Av's in 2009 scored his 17th at 8:32, thenfor insurance in the first period, the Av's struck again at 12:28, taking a 3-1 lead, on Kevin Porter netting his 8th goal of the season. The Avalanche cotinued this rush of goals, scoring another for a 4-1 lead at 14:15 on Matt Duchene's 18th of the season. The Red Wings managed one more goal at 18:00, to make the score 4-2.
The second period showed not much scoring, but a goal by each team. The Red Wings feel behind 5-2, on a goal David Jones, his 14th at 6:51. Then at 15:30, a power play goal by Henrik Zetterburg got the score to 5-3 to end the second period.
The Third period showed a Wings comeback, they scored a goal at 9:45, a pwer play goal by Tomas Holmstrom. That was all the scoring. A hard fought, hard loss suffered by the Wings, but they showcased a lot of heart, and it could take them far.
