It was one of those off days. Where the Red Wings played an easy team, and fell short of even a point. The Blue Jackets, at 51 points and 14th in a very close Western Conference beat the Wings. That win may jumpstart the Jackets. Here is the recap:
In the first period, the scoring was low, as was most of the game. The Jackets scored the first of 3. The first coming at 12:27, by a goal from Antoine Vermette, his 12th. The lead the Jackets never lost. As the second period began
The Second period had one more Jackets goal, this one at the 13:11 mark, by Jared Boll, his 6th, at that point giving the Jackets a commanding lead, and setting the Wings back. That goal was probably the play of the game.
The game was about to end in the Third period, when to add insult to injury, Andrew Murray scored a empty netter, his 4th. That iced the game, and the Wings chances of a possible last minute comeback.
The Jackets got help from the goalie Steve Mason, his 17th career shutout in his young career. The Wings being blanked at the Joe wasn't good, but the next game vs the Rangers, a original 6 matchup will prove much more rewarding to the Wings....Hopefully
