Wings fall to Blues 4-3, still remain tied for 1st
In a close game, the absense of Pavel Datsyuk will be missed. Red Wings lost 4-3 to a surging Blues team, who is now one point away from 8th. The Red Wings still remain in 1st, but with no help to this game. Here is the recap:
In the first period, the Blues struck first in this see-saw battle at 13:21, Erik Johnson scored the first goal of the game, his 2nd, on the power play and gave the Blues a 1-0 lead. Quickly Detroit struck back, getting a quick comeback goal at 13:51, from Franzen, his 15th. At 14:27, the Blues Patrik Berqlund scored his 7th goal of the season, giving the Blues the lead back at 2-1. Berqlund scored again in the period at 18:47, giving the Blues the commanding 3-1 lead.
In the second period, at 5:51, the Blues took a 4-1 lead, getting a goal from Matt D'Agostini, his 8th. The Wings didn't end the battle quickly though. For with 11:33 left Nicklas Lidstrom got his 9th goal, to bring the score to 4-2, followed by Eaves 8th goal, minutes later at 16:51. It was 4-3 going into the third period.
In the third, no scoring happened, the Wings comeback meant nothing as the Wings fell to the Blues in St. Louis 4-3. The Wings currently have 46 points in 1st, tied for 1st in the Wsetern Conference, while the Blues are at 39 points in 10th in the Western Conference.
