The Red Wings, coming off a 4th straight win vs the Panthers went into Minnesota, itching for a 5th straight, which happened. Here is the recap:
This low scoring game had nothing major happen through the first two periods, scoreless through 41 minutes of hockey to be exact, until the third period came around.
In the third, Nick Lidstrom scored at the 1:10 mark, giving the Wings the late 1-0 lead. but at 4:50, Martin Havelt scored, tying the game, and eventually forcing OT.
Nothing happened in OT, which led to the shootout.
In the shootout, for the Wings, Datsyuk scored first. Minnesota went and had Bouchard get stopped by Howard. Hudler for Wings missed the net, and for the Wild, Cullen was stopped by Howard, which led to the game winner, seconds later by Bertuzzi
The Wings have won 5 straight and get to 80 points, still battling for that top seed.
